MKHUPHALI Masuku registered his first win since taking over as Talen Vision coach last month when they emphatically beat visiting Moto Moto 3-0 in a Southern Region Division One League match at the weekend.

Masuku replaced Slovak coach Miroslav Nemec, who failed to reach his target. Nemec and his technical team had been given a target of 20 points from 10 games and were reassigned to the juniors after amassing 10 points in seven matches.

Masuku has presided over three Vision games, losing 1-2 away to leaders Hwange, followed by a 0-0 draw against NRZ Leopards in Dete and the 3-0 victory.

The win lifted Vision from 10th to fifth on the league table, with 14 points from 10 games, which is seven points adrift of leaders Hwange.

Vision got their goals from the midfield duo of Nyasha Garayi and Adonis Nyoni as well as striker Dingani Maphosa.

“Things are looking good and we are taking it step by step. It’s good to win and it lifts the    boys’ confidence. We will continue working hard to ensure we effectively compete,” said Masuku.

Former Premiership side Tsholotsho also registered a win by edging NRZ Leopards 2-1 courtesy of goals by Amos Nyoni and Ashley Ndiweni, while Innocent Kaunda scored the consolation goal for the Dete side.

Tsholotsho are tied third on the table on 19 points with Victoria Falls-based Mosi Rovers, who beat Bosso 90 1-0 through a Mediator Mabhena goal.

Hwange dismissed new comers CIWU 2-0 through a brace by veteran striker Gilbert Zulu.

Two games involving championship chasing teams were postponed to later dates. Ambitious Makomo had their away fixture against Casmyn cancelled while police side ZRP Bulawayo had a breakdown on their way to a game against ZPC Hwange.

Zifa Southern Region administrator Augustine Ndlovu could not be drawn into stating the position of the league regarding the unfulfilled fixtures.
