This Saturday, all roads lead to Blue Lagoon at the Old Renkin bus terminus as Max “Big Max” Phiri makes his highly anticipated return to the stage after a decade-long break.
Phiri, alongside Revonia Ndaba, will be launching their new music at an afternoon show supported by Elaim Promotions.
The event promises an exciting line-up of performers, including the talented Ndux Junior and his Batshele Brothers, King Phosa and Nkayi Challengers, Tinashe Willo and the Sungura Snippers, Constance Mararire, Dr Gasolo, Isizwe Sabatsha, and more.
Big Max, who rose to fame with his band Tusanang Sounds through hits like Madumaneand Bantu Bami, will be unveiling two new tracks, Izindunduma and Abantwana, along with a remix of his popular hit Madumane.
“I am ready for the stage. In fact, I cannot wait because it has been a long time since I last performed. Ngiphethe uluju kuphela (I’m bringing nothing but sweetness). Music lovers should come and see what we’ve prepared for them,” Phiri said, expressing his excitement about the comeback.
Revonia Ndaba will also be launching her debut album, Isiphiwo. Known for her dynamic presence as a dancer, Ndaba promises to deliver an electrifying performance.
“I don’t want to reveal too much, but fans should come and experience what we’ve prepared. This is the start of something new, and I’m ready to fly,” Ndaba said, hinting at a powerful stage debut.
Promoter Eliam Phiri encouraged fans to attend the show in large numbers, adding that the event has received backing from Ingwebu, a plus for both artistes and their fans.
“It’s great to see corporate support for our local artistes. Fans should come in numbers, support the musicians by buying their music and merchandise. The show is free, so they will have something extra to spend on USBs and other items,” Phiri said.
Last week, the same venue hosted Obadia Matulane, who launched his new album Ingubo Entsha. – @themkhust
