MAZ founder and chief executive officer, Mr Gillian Rusike, said the donation is part of the institution’s way of giving back to the community and that they have donated to schools in other parts of the country.
“We raised funds to support education initiatives through the Annual Golf Tournament that our institution has been hosting over the past years. Today is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
“Previously, we’ve supported Manicaland, Mashonaland West, Harare, Mashonaland East, and now, Matabeleland South, specifically Plumtree. Our goal is to nurture future marketing professionals who will contribute positively to their communities and personal growth,” said Mr Rusike.
He acknowledged that schools are often hamstrung by a shortage of teaching materials, hence the focus on providing textbooks.
“We recognise the challenges schools face, including the shortage of learning materials. We believe knowledge is essential and should start at a young age, and this donation is crucial in closing that gap.”
Mr Rusike urged learners to embrace learning with curiosity and passion and to utilise the resources to succeed academically.
He also applauded teachers for their professionalism and dedication to educating the next generation of leaders.
“We appreciate your dedication to providing quality education for your pupils, and we are honoured to have been able to contribute to the school’s growth and success. Remember to dream big. The world is waiting for you. You can be anything you want to be. All the best,” he said.
Msasane Primary School headmaster, Mr Phindani Khuphe, said the textbook donation will help the school improve its pass rate.
“The new textbooks align with the heritage-based curriculum and will enhance the learners’ knowledge. These books are going to improve pupil progression. Learners are going to assist each other in terms of peer teaching, which promotes better understanding,” he said.
He also appealed for financial support, noting that the school does not have a perimeter wall, which could put the security of learners at risk.
“I appeal for support in addressing these concerns to ensure a safer and better learning environment for our learners,” said Mr Khuphe.
