THERE is growing disorder in Bulawayo, where vendors roast green mealies on the streets while others block pavements while illegally selling their wares.

Addressing informal traders at an ongoing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) start and improve your business (SIYB) training organised by the International Labour Organisation in partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development in the city, Minister of State for Bulawayo Affairs Judith Ncube said informal business should follow local authority rules and regulations and use designated areas in doing their businesses.

“Let’s put order around our city. There is no one from outside who will come and put order in our city on our behalf,” she said.

“Long back we used to have people who roast green meallies at Mkambo in Makokoba, and people would drive and buy properly done meallies in an orderly manner, let’s try to do that because there is no outsider that will come and organise us,” said the Minister.

No one from outside will.
