Michael Magoronga, Midlands Correspondent MUFARO Munyai (20) was crowned Miss Bodylicious at a beauty contest held at King Solomon’s Hotel in Kwekwe on Saturday. Munyai, a Theatre Arts student at the National University of Science Technology (Nust), walked away with $1 000 after she shrugged off competition from eight contestants at the colourful event. Tendai Sibanda (21), also from Nust, was crowned first princess while Cardy Tafa of ZOU Gweru was crowned second princess. They pocketed $750 and $500 respectively. Kent Mashingire of Midlands State University (MSU) in Gweru was voted Miss Personality and walked away with $200. During the event, Rockford “Roki” Josphats and Alexio “Goodchild” Gwenzi gave a good account of themselves complimenting the choreography by the voluptuous ladies. Event organiser, Miss Tendai “Pinky” Makoni, said despite two other ladies dropping out at the 11th hour due to school commitments, the event was a success. “We ended up having nine out of the scheduled 11 ladies after two failed to show up for the boot camp due to school commitments as they’re writing exams. But all the same, the event attracted a lot of attention from fans and we’re grateful,” said Makoni. She said the pageant was meant to celebrate curvaceous ladies. “We’re happy we managed to engage a serious sponsor in the form of Mr and Mrs Matsa (owners of Golden Mile) who provided the venue and sponsored the event. We held the events in 2016 and 2017 but they were not successful due to lack of sponsorship.” Matsa, a well-known businessman with interests in the transport, hospitality and mining industries, bankrolled the event to the tune of about $20 000.
