Mlue Jay basks in ZHHA glory

AFTER reigning supreme at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAAs) where he emerged as the Outstanding Hip Hop Artist, Mlue Jay is stamping his foot down in the bars, metaphors, and, rhymes game.
This comes after his gigantic six Zim Hip Hop Awards (ZHHA) nominations. Such a figure shows his lyrical acumen.
For his works, Mlue Jay has been recognised in the following categories: Best Male, Best Album (Less Talk More Action), Best Diaspora, Best Live Act, People’s Choice, and Positive Social Impact Award.
Of course, the South Africa-based act is not new to the ZHHA stage and has won the awards previously.
He said he owes this recognition to hard work and the production of his album, “Less Talk More Action”.
“I am so happy for such recognition. I knew I worked hard, but honestly, I didn’t see this one coming. Less Talk More Action got me where I am today.
If I had not dropped the project, I doubt I’d have been nominated. I’m the only hip-hop artiste that dropped a project in the city so they had to do the right thing,” said Mlue Jay.
The artiste has been holding it down for quite a while and thinks winning any of the gongs will just be an added advantage.
“Getting these nominations means a lot to me. If we win, it will be a cherry on top, but the work we did surely got noticed,” said the Upside down singer.
Mlue Jay joins fellow brands from Bulawayo in the nominees list and these include Brucella, Noluntu J, Stars29, JoyRukanza, Mkhokheli Zibengwa, and Brintz.
The most noticeable thing on the nominees list was Asaph’s absence. The “Thebelele” singer has been a perennial figure in the nominees list.
The ZHHA is set for its perennial home, 7 Arts Theatre in Harare on December 15. – @MbuleloMpofu
