AT a time his future has come under discussion, Warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has instead shifted his focus to doing work for his foundation during the off season.

Nakamba, who recently helped Luton Town FC gain promotion to the English Premier League (EPL), joined the EPL-bound club on a six-month contract from Aston Villa which entails his parent club can still recall him as he still has one more year on his contract.

In an interview with the Birmingham Mail newspaper, Nakamba said he is still waiting for communication from his parent club.

“I’ve not had any discussions with Unai yet.

“Villa have only just had their last game, and I have only just finished my season here. Only God knows the future, hopefully it’s for the best. I still have a contract there, I will just see. Now is the time to celebrate (Luton’s promotion), but I will wait for the phone call, or an email, from my agent or from Aston Villa. Wherever I am next season, God only knows, but I will just keep doing my best,” said Nakamba.

On Saturday night, Nakamba converted Luton’s penalty number three, taking responsibility as a senior player who had brought stability to the side when he joined them in January and went on to receive rave reviews during his 17 regular league games’ appearances.

In a statement through his Marvelous Nakamba Foundation (MNF), the 27-year-old midfielder yesterday revealed that he is heading to Zimbabwe to oversee his philanthropic work which covers all the country’s 10 provinces.

Nakamba appealed to well-wishers to assist the foundation in their drive to try and empower underprivileged communities in Zimbabwe.

“We at the foundation (Marvelous Nakamba Foundation) work hard to raise funds and bring awareness to assist those in need and improve lives the best way we can. I was blessed to be a blessing. Through my foundation we will embark on charity events through the summer break and try to visit each province in the country.

“Kindly asking all my teammates, friends, supporters, corporates, organisations and agencies who share the same vision and values to join us for this cause. The Foundation seeks to help underprivileged communities through the power of sport.

“You are all welcome to partake and assist in building better communities. I endeavour to travel around Zimbabwe to implement the MNF Programs using my off season break,” read a statement from the foundation. — @innocentskizoe
