Nyanga movie premiere set for December 19

Harare Bureau

HARARE is set to host the much-anticipated premiere of Nyanga, a cinematic gem that has already garnered 11 international awards and two nominations at the Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards, as well as accolades from the Sotambe Zambia International Film Festival.

The premiere is slated for December 19, 2024, at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City, starting at 6pm.

Directed by Eddie Ndhlovu in collaboration with Jacov Dakovic, the movie has been hailed as a powerful narrative exploring universal human experiences.
“This film is a labour of love – a sincere attempt to capture the joys, sorrows, and complexities of the human condition,” Ndhlovu said.

“My hope is that it will resonate with audiences and spark thoughtful discussions around the shared experiences that unite us all.”

Set during the Covid-19 pandemic, the film chronicles the gripping story of Panganayi, a determined ranger who, alongside his ill-equipped team, battles against poachers threatening rhinos.
The cast includes talented actors Collin Ncube, Lloyd Mazengula, Benhildah Kandawasvika, Hardlife Makuku, and Anneline Gwasira. Talent Chitauro served as the producer, while Andre Ndhlovu handled editing duties.

Ndhlovu has promised an unforgettable premiere night, featuring a red-carpet event designed to complement the film’s compelling narrative.
“This isn’t just any movie night; it’s an extraordinary event,” he said.

“Nyanga has already made waves internationally, and now, this Zimbabwean masterpiece is ready to touch hearts and spark conversations locally.”

The drama’s international acclaim underscores its significance as a cultural export, with Ndhlovu confident the project will elevate Zimbabwe’s visibility in global cinema.
