SOUTH Africa’s award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest (real name Refiloe Maele Phoolo) has endorsed Bulawayo hip hop artiste – Cal_Vin’s (real name Calvin Nhliziyo) track Zikhuphani, describing it as a good song.

Cassper who was in the country over the weekend for a show in Harare heard the song playing during his interview on ZiFM on Saturday afternoon.

After hearing the song, the Doc Shebeleza hit-maker took to Twitter and tweeted: “This Zikhuphani joint by Calvin is my s***!!! #Zimbabwe.”

Thereafter, the tweet went viral and was re-tweeted and favourited by Cassper and Cal_Vin’s fans.

An excited Cal_Vin wasted no time after the mention and went on to ride on Cassper’s Doc Shebeleza beat, putting his own lyrics.

“I cannot believe this uCassper ungigaye iMention kwahlanya intwana zelokshini/

I’m straight from ekhoneni to heavy radio rotation, it’s time for my levitation/

No invitation abazange bengibize, ngiyakutshela lonyaka banyile/

Ngiphusha ngePassion, now see my blood sweat and tears, mfanakithi lonyaka ngilambile,” read some of Cal_Vins lyrics for the popular hit which he posted a few hours after being mentioned by Cassper. The remix was favourited and shared by many on Twitter though Cassper did not respond.

Cal_Vin said he was elated at being mentioned by Cassper Nyovest as this was a major boost for his career.

“I was listening to his interview on radio after he arrived in Harare. They played local hip hop tracks from Junior Brown and I. Cassper was impressed by Zikhuphani and actually tweeted about it. Just that mention will go a long away as there is now a lot of interest around Zikhuphani,” Cal_Vin said.

He said he was planning to get in touch with Cassper for a possible collaboration.

“I’ve been trying frantically to get hold of him because I want to collaborate with Cassper. I’ve had promises from people that he’s worked with that they were going to help me get in touch with him,” he said.

Cal_Vin said he was looking forward to the release of Zikhupani’s video which will also be his first music video.

The video which was shot in Luveve 5 suburb last month will be released on February 28. “I’ve seen teasers of the video and it’s looking good. I’ll be travelling to Harare this week to help edit the video otherwise it’s good to go,” he said.

Cal_Vin who was once based in South Africa, said he was now looking for a suitable venue to launch the music video in Bulawayo before uploading it online.

“I’m also planning to go to South Africa and submit the video to Soweto TV, Channel O, Mzansi Magic, Africa Magic and MTV. Hopefully they’ll play it as I want to represent my country through hip hop,” said Cal_Vin.
