MAYBE if Elikem Kumordzie had not allowed his wife Pokello to attend socialites’ Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure and Tazvi “Chief Jay” Mhaka’s birthday parties alone, the two could still be together considering that she likely found love at these controversial parties.

The Big Brother Africa (BBA) lovers, a once power couple in Africa popularly known as Polikem, have since gone their separate ways with Elikem, who filed for divorce in September this year, saying their relationship had irretrievably broken down.

They had been together since 2013 when they met during the BBA reality show in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Running a relationship in the BBA House is otherwise easy as there are no nails to be done, red/pink bottom heels to be bought, bills to be paid and children to take care of compared to the outside world.

As such, impressing a girl is an easy feat especially if one is a charmer.

This was the case with Pokello and Elikem. Elikem was suave and fun.

Being a tailor, he was always smartly dressed and stylish — characteristics that likely won him the girl — an otherwise slay queen. And to their advantage, Africa fell in love with the couple as Pokello to her credit, was always “on point”, making them a powerful lot.

But Elikem, had he known, should have taken note of some of Pokello’s traits.

This was a woman who trended on social media a few months before entering the reality show because of a sex tape between her and then lover, rapper Stunner.

And when she left the show, with newly found fame, she dumped Stunner on live television saying they should just be friends.

“I’m feeling Elikem big time, all day, every day, it is what it is,” Pokello said when she was evicted from the BBA House and was asked about her relationship back home.

“When I left the house, I spoke to Stunner on the phone about the developments in the house and we have agreed to be friends,” she said.

So with such a character, what guarantee did Elikem have that Pokello — who does not come cheap — would not go to another place and find love there?

Sadly, many never take time to reflect on such as they all believe that they are the chosen ones.

Nevertheless, Elikem, in the first years of their relationship, really seemed like the lucky one.

Both of them were regular passengers on airplanes, shuttling between Zimbabwe, Ghana and South Africa on business.

Keeping the fire burning, they both organised parties for each other in their respective countries, likely as excuses to meet.

But a year after dating, towards the end of 2014, Elikem seemed to have messed up after infidelity claims. This saw Pokello dumping him for a couple of months.

Like any relationship, they worked things out and in June 2015, they decided to solemnise their union with Elikem allegedly paying $25 000 lobola for Pokello at a colourful traditional ceremony in Harare.

The event that was the talk of town was attended by most of Elikem’s relatives from Ghana and this gesture silenced all naysayers who thought the two would separate just after leaving the BBA house.

Later that year, the two welcomed their first child, a baby boy. What could possibly go wrong after this many asked.

Last year however, the two’s love started fading away as they were no longer being spotted together at public events.

Never to let each other’s birthday’s pass without sharing sweet messages on social media, last year, the two were mum on birthdays.

Pokello, on the other hand, started raising eyebrows after frequenting Ginimbi and Chief Jay’s controversial birthday parties in South Africa without her hubby, leaving many questioning her status with Elikem.

At Chief Jay’s yacht party in May last year, she was captured too close for comfort around the two men. This made many conclude she was dating either Ginimbi or Chief Jay.

Justifying Elikem’s absence at the party meant for “brothers and sisters” only as spouses are usually left behind, Pokello said her husband had given her the green light and would likely attend the next boat party as more were lined up.

“We’re not bothered and there’re three more yacht parties lined up. If our spouses are able to come, then they’ll definitely do so because they know and understand where we’re coming from with our brothers,” Pokello said in response to the allegations.

Chief Jay also came out in her defence saying: “These are my sisters and brothers by all means. It means nothing if you think otherwise.”

And right he was that Pokello was his sister as Pokello had been spotted by one of their close friends hence her being a regular at these parties.

One Ronald Muzambe had stolen her heart and the two seemed to have started dating just after Ginimbi’s birthday party in October last year.

Muzambe recently relocated to Dubai and just last week, Pokello was in that city partying up a storm with him as part of her birthday celebrations.

Always a conservative person when it comes to her private life, Pokello for the past year, kept this relationship under wraps and only let the cat out of the bag earlier this week when she was celebrating their first anniversary.

“Some uniqueness in a world full of actors. #365DaysAndLoading #WhatAYearItsBeen #ToMakingMoreMemories,” captioned Pokello a picture of her and Muzambe on her Instagram page.

Besides this post, Pokello has been gushing about the new pair of expensive Christian Louboutin shoes, popularly known as “red bottoms”, which she got from Muzambe.

However, Pokello could have posted this anniversary post to spite Elikem who last week shared a video bragging about his new love from Zimbabwe.

It remains to be seen whether her relationship with Muzambe will last.
