THE Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA) has revealed that due to financial constraints they will not be sending a team for the Blackball 2022 World Championships set to take place in Tangier, Morocco from 8 to 15 October.

ZIPA public relations officer Donald Wadawu said it was beyond their capacity to have a team travelling to Tangier, a city on the Moroccan coast at the western entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel.

“It was all due to lack of funding that we arrived at this decision. We thought it was beyond our capability. As a result, as a Board in consultation with the Council we thought otherwise. Instead, we resolved to start preparing for AAPA 2023, to be hosted by Namibia or South Africa,” said Wadawu.

In a statement, acting Blackball International (BI) president Myeherif Zine El Abidine said: “It is with great pleasure that Blackball International can announce officially the 2022 World Championships are set to take place from 8 to 15 October 2022 at the beautiful city of Tangier in the Kingdom of Morocco. This historical event in Morocco will be attended by hundreds of players from the five continents who will compete for the prestigious title of World Champion in 23 sections.”
