BUDDING Afro-pop songstress, Noma T (real name Nomalanga Tshuma) is a strong believer in collaborations after seeing their power in South Africa where she was based for a while.

The musician, upon returning back home recently, joined hands with Nust student, Leroy Manunure known as Ellbee in music circles.

The union saw them drop a single titled Ndinokuda. The song, according to the artiste, is doing well on local radio stations showing potential to penetrate the challenging showbiz scene.

Narrating how she came up with the track, Noma T said: “It had been a while since I was last in studio due to Covid-19. Also, I’d  been away in a foreign country. But, upon my arrival back home, I went straight to my producer who pushed me into the studio for a collaboration.

“I was up for it as I’d seen the power of collaborations in South Africa as almost all artistes are collaborating. I’m glad that we did this as the song is trending and doing very well,” she said.

On his part, versatile Ellbee thanked Noma T for featuring him on the song as it gave him the much-needed boost.

“She brought new ideas and tactics of the trade that helped a lot in the making of the song. We recorded this song in a very funny way as we met at the studio after the producer invited me over. I didn’t know he had facilitated a collaboration that would produce a beautiful song,” Ellbee said.

The duo is now working on coming up with visuals for the song.

“Our biggest challenge so far has been resources but our plans are to shoot a video as soon as possible so that we can give our fans something different,” said Ellbee.

Looking at the trends nowadays, more and more artistes are collaborating as they seek ways to grow their brands and appeal to more and diverse audiences. This has paid off for most, something that Noma T alluded to. – @joelTsvakwi
