MUTARE, Zimbabwe — President Emmerson Mnangagwa toured the Fish and Horticulture Projects at the Magamba Vocational Training Centre (MVTC) as part of the ongoing Youth Empowerment Forum (YEF).
The initiative, led by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, aims to enhance vocational skills among the youth and promote sustainable livelihoods through practical training.
During his visit, President Mnangagwa emphasised the importance of these empowerment projects in equipping young people with essential skills that can lead to self-sufficiency and economic growth.
Designed to provide hands-on experience and knowledge that can be directly applied in the job market or in entrepreneurial ventures, the fish and horticulture projects are boosting income among youths.
The Ministry operates 45 fully established Vocational Training Centres across the country, complemented by 25 satellite centres aimed at decentralising skills training and supporting the existing facilities. This expansive network is part of the Government’s strategy to ensure that vocational education is accessible to all young Zimbabweans.
As the YEF continues, the focus remains on fostering a skilled workforce that can contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic development and resilience.
President Mnangagwa’s engagement with these projects highlights the government’s commitment to empowering the youth as key agents of change in society.
