PROJECT Management Zimbabwe (PMZ) has been granted full global accreditation as an Authorised Training Partner (ATP) by the Project Management Institution (PMI), the world’s largest project management membership association.

PMZ is the country’s largest association of project managers drawn from diverse project focus areas and qualifications. Since its establishment in 2009, its various mandates include training and providing guidelines for certification of project managers.

The organisation marks its 12th anniversary this year.

In a statement PMZ said being granted the ATP status has positioned the organisation to help members find high quality training interventions on a global level.

“Training with an authorised partner will ensure that members are trained by an organisation that can be trusted,” said PMZ.

“ATPs demonstrate alignment with PMI, the world’s largest project management membership association. ATP instructors have current learning methods imparted by PMI and it continuously enhances their skills.”

The organisation said continuous quality improvement processes and procedures demonstrated throughout ATP organisations worldwide were critical in transforming PMZ and contributing to fulfilment of its mandate.

“Given this new globally recognised accreditation with PMI that we have earned, we are now shifting our strategic focus to accelerated training while we off-load a large chunk of membership activities to the local PMI Zimbabwe chapter,” PMZ board member Mr Pfungwa Mlambo.

Quality project management is imperative for Zimbabwe especially at a time when the country is driving massive infrastructure development aimed at boosting the economy in line with the National Development Strategy 1 and the broader upper middle-income status by 2030. – @SikhulekelaniM1
