CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League Week 19 weekend action saw Bulawayo football giants, Highlanders, posting their second consecutive win in the second window after they dismissed city rivals Bulawayo Chiefs 2-0 at Barbourfields Stadium.

In their MatchDay 18 league tie, Boss accounted for their old-time nemesis Dynamos on a similar scoreline. Ex-Bantu Rovers player Marvin Sibanda and combative Peter Mudhuwa were on target for Kelvin Kaindu’s men.

Chiefs failed to match Bosso pound for pound days after losing striker Never Rauzhi, Marlvin Hativagoni and Xolisani “Scara” Moyo to Bosso, Ngezi Platinum Stars and TelOne respectively.

Rauzhi could not play for Bosso as his parent club (Bulawayo Chiefs) inserted a contract clause that he should not be in action against them in his six-month loan contract deal.

It was a match that also saw Bosso throw in their third-choice goalkeeper Reward Muza to get his second successive start ahead of Raphael Pitisi and Ariel Sibanda.

While Muza kept another clean sheet, striker Nqobile Ndlovu had a cameo role coming close on several occasions to open his goal-scoring account in Bosso colours.

A total of nine goals were scored in the past weekend action and it is the least number of goals that has been scored this season.

Before that, the calculator suggests that the lowest number of goals was 10 which were scored in Week Three and Seven.

It was the first time that the country’s on-going elite football league failed to reach double figures this season in terms of goals scored on a weekend that former Warriors poster boy Khama Billiat found the back of the net for the third time in a row to take his goal tally to eight and join CAPS United gunslinger William Manondo as the joint leading goal scorer.

Billiat and Blessed Ndereki ensured Yadah extended their unbeaten run to three matches as they beat visiting Bikita Minerals 2-0.

The 2022 Soccer Star of the Year, Walter Musona moved to six goals after Simba Bhora drew one all against Greenfuel.

While Bosso’s Lynoth Chikuhwa remained tied on seven goals together with dreadlocked Evans Katema who has since joined Manica Diamonds, PSL games are now on a total of 311 goals.

Herentals College’s Godfrey Mukambi moved to four goals and the trio of Sibanda, Blessed Ndereki and Kevin Moyo are on three goals while Chicken Inn’s Brian Muza scored his second goal of the season to help his club edge Arenel Movers 1-0.

Muduhwa and Chris Ngwende of Herentals were scoring for the first time this season.

FC Platinum, with 39 points from 19 matches, maintained their five-point lead over Ngezi Platinum and Simba Bhora who were held to a draw at Greenfuel.
