Revered Rhumba musician Kholwani “TK” Dube and his Dubia Masters recently captivated audiences in South Africa with the launch of their 11th studio album, “Amagam’Ahlabayo”.
Being the first album of the year from the “Big Rhumba Club”, TK set the bar high, earning enthusiastic praise from fans.
The seven-track album features hits like “Gobiqole Sbale”, likely to be a fan favourite due to TK’s exceptional guitar work. Other songs on the album include the title track, “Induk’emqubeni”, “Namanana” featuring the hilarious Jesiyakhe character, “Kgotso” sung in Tswana, and “Umoya Wesithembu”. The album features witty lyrics and a fusion of different genres like reggae and pantsula, creating the unique “Isidubia” form of Rhumba.
TK is a master in the game, showcasing his prowess by playing all guitars and handling all technical work, including mixing and mastering his products in his TK studios. On this album, he collaborated with Charles Ndebele from Ndolwane Super Sounds’ Amangwe production on the song “Tjamuka Inyama”.
“The launch was very successful. I can say, since I’ve been in the music industry, this was the best. I’m still short of words looking at the attendance; it gives me satisfaction that Rhumba fans love what we do. “During the launch, we had many business people who support Rhumba and they bought the album with thousands of rands,” TK said.
He emphasised putting all his energy into this album to produce a quality product that fans would love.
He went on to mention that they have established a distribution network for the album in South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, where the genre is loved.
“We’ll have another launch in Bulawayo and Botswana so that our fans can sample the new album. We’ve never launched an album back home and in Botswana, so this is something that our fans should look forward to,” said the Plumtree-born musician.
The award-winning musician has been in the industry for a long time, having performed with the likes of Aloise Zibane, Madalaboy, and Ndolwane Super Sounds before charting his career path.
