AMAPIANO kingpins Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa are billed to return to Bulawayo for another show on September 18.

Known to many as the Scorpion Kings, Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa have been topping the bar for the past three years as the hottest duo in Southern Africa as they have managed to produce hit after hit.

The duo was last in Bulawayo in January this year where they rocked crowds at Eyadini. They are set to reminisce with their fans from Zimbabwe as a whole as they have a large following in the Southern African region.

One of the organisers, 3D Events director Mduduzi “Mdu” Mdlongwa said preparations are on course for the event.

“The show will be held by the grounds at Queens Sports Club so that we have enough space to accommodate the headliners who have a large following. For supporting acts, we’ve selected DJs based on how versatile they are as we want the sets to be well balanced so that people have an experience of a lifetime,” said Mdu.

Quizzed on whether the Scorpion Kings will not be a no-show as was the case at the Victoria Falls Carnival, Mdu said: “With this issue of artistes not showing up, we really don’t know the logistics. We really don’t know the contractual aspect of what happened, but we’ve sent an email to the artistes and they’ve sent us the contracts that we also sent back. We’ve agreed on the times of flights, just like how we booked them before,” said Mdu.

It remains to be seen if DJ Maphorisa who recently collaborated with an up-and-coming vocalist, Andrea The Vocalist will sample their yet-to-be-released track/s at the show.

But one thing is for sure, happy times are ahead as more and more shows are being held in the city following the further relaxation of Covid-19 lockdown measures and kicking in of the summer season.  – @mthabisi_mthire
