SDA Church’s AMO rescues inferno-struck Pelandaba family

HUMANITARIAN aid has started pouring in for the Nkomo family in Bulawayo’s Pelandaba suburb whose house was gutted by fire last week.
As of Sunday, the Adventist Men’s Organisation (AMO) of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA) in Pelandaba mobilized resources to help in re-wiring and re-plastering the damaged house.
AMO is an all-men arm of the SDA Church concerned with humanitarian and community development.
A Chronicle News caught up with artisans from the AMO unit who were busy repairing damaged walls, replastering, rewiring, and replacing window pans.
A visibly elated Timothy Nkomo who led in rallying support for the distressed family thanked the well-wishers for heeding the call to render assistance.
“I would like to thank everyone who has donated towards our cause. It has been a hectic week for us but we have seen the Lord’s hand,” he said.
“There has been a tremendous response to the call with people donating food, some money, and then the men from SDA Pelandaba rendering their services towards making our house habitable again. We couldn’t have done it without their help.”
Barring any unforeseen disturbances, renovations should be complete by next week. – @MbuleloMpofu
