Sibanda backs Bosso Omega Sibanda

ZIFA vice-president Omega Sibanda has backed Highlanders for admonishing their card carrying members for posting unfounded allegations of embezzlement of funds by the club’s leadership.

Sibanda said aggrieved members should follow the right channels in airing their grievances than to soil the good image of the institutions on social media.

“If one is aggrieved and is a member, surely there are proper avenues to follow than taking to social media to soil the very organisation you claim to love.

“Even at Zifa we have similar problems of people that always hear and see no good at the association, but rush to social media to propagate their falsehoods.

“If one is a master in leadership, why doesn’t that person throw his or her name into the election race and show us what he or she has? It’s bad for the image of the organisation and our football as a nation,” said Sibanda.

Sibanda said objective criticism was welcome, as it keeps those in office on their toes, but also highlighted that due credit must also be given.

“People rush to social media to write to faceless individuals, serialise lies. We know some of them even use pseudonyms to character assassinate certain individuals, clubs and organisations and we wonder where all this takes us as a people.

“If one feels aggrieved, approach those who would have aggrieved you and seek clarity, you lose nothing,” he said.

Social media commentators have also advised clubs to privately engage those individuals that would have posted damaging allegations about them instead of waiting for annual general meetings.
