THE Zanu-PF Mashonaland West province has confirmed Cde Robert Sikanyika as the substantive provincial chairman while Zvimba District has elected Cde Tsitsi Mugabe to replace the late national heroine Cde Sabina Mugabe in the  national Women’s League.
Cde Sikanyika had been acting chairman since last year following the ouster of Cde John Mafa.
The women’s executive committee also unanimously elected Cde Sarah Mahoka the substantive provincial chairwoman.
The chairwoman’s post fell vacant following the death of Cde Chiratidzo Gava last year.
Other members of the executive elevated on Friday last week include Cde Christine Nyere (vice chairwoman), Cde Hilda Bhobho (political commissar) and Cde Rose Ngomalala (secretary for security).
In the province’s main wing executive committee, Cde Sikanyika will be deputised by Cde Christopher Shumba, formerly secretary for security.
Other members include — Cde Tapera Table (secretary for administration) and Alexio Mutyambizi (secretary for information).
The co-options and elections follow the provincial co-ordinating committee’s resolution last week.
This is in line with the Zanu-PF constitution which stipulates that the affected organs of the party should co-opt members to fill vacant posts.
The Zvimba District Co-ordinating Committee met on Sunday and elected Cde Tsitsi Mugabe who got 26 votes to beat Cde Beauty Zhuwao with 14 votes.
The new changes to the executives will be put before the PCC for confirmation while Cde Tsitsi Mugabe’s name will be forwarded to the national Women’s League.
The late Cde Sabina Mugabe was secretary for finance in the national Women’s League and Cde Tsitsi Mugabe will take up the position.
Cde Sikanyika said the confirmation was a vote of confidence in him.
This, he said, would make him work hard to strengthen the party.
“The challenge had been to unite the party and build it into a formidable force in the province. I take the election as a vote of confidence in my ability to take instructions for the good of the party,” he said.
