Silla out, Honest in Honest Moyo

HIGHLANDERS’ Soccer Star of the Year finalist favourite Adrian Silla will be missing in action when the Bulawayo giants take on neighbours Bulawayo City at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow in a game that sees the return of skipper, Honest Moyo.

The gritty Silla has not been training with the rest of the team due to a knee injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw against Shabanie Mine last week where he also missed a spot kick early in the match.

“He is not on suspension as we previously thought but he is carrying an injury hence will be out of Sunday’s game,” said Highlanders coach Mandla Lulu Mpofu who has been in charge of the squad in the absence of technical manager Madinda Ndlovu who is on a compassion leave following a family bereavement last week.

While Silla will be sitting it out, left back and skipper Moyo makes a return to acting after limping off in the 2-1 win over Yadah a few weeks back with an ankle injury.

“Our captain is now back in full training, he has been undergoing light work but is now okay,” said Mpofu.

Tshilamoya are still chasing their top four dream and Mpofu believes it can be achieved despite being four points off the mark and ruled out any special favours to Bulawayo City, who need at least 14 points from their remaining five games to get off the relegation waters although that too depends on the performance of other teams above them. In fact a loss to Highlanders tomorrow will all but confirm the end of their three year stay in the Premiership.

“Being a derby it’s a players’ game more than the coaches. They know each other very well and some of the City players actually captained Highlanders including their head coach so it’s not going to be an easy encounter but we are equally prepared and want to make our supporters happy. It’s unfortunate that we meet them at their most needy situation but we can’t help it,” said Mpofu yesterday.

Meanwhile, 10 players will miss this week’s action after accumulating three yellow cards each.

Bosso’s opponents will be without the duo of Humphrey Ncube and Tatenda Tavengwa, the same number of players that giants Dynamos and Caps United will also be without.

Relegation fighting Dynamos will be without James Marufu and Godfrey Mukambi while Makepekepe will travel to Nyamhunga Stadium for a date with ZPC Kariba without Joel Ngodzo and Justice Jangano.

Bruce Homora of Black Rhinos will miss the DeMbare clash tomorrow. Table anchors Shabanie Mine will be without Washington Kahuni and Peter Muzondo for their home clash against Harare City.

Alfred Chiname of Mutare City misses their clash against Yadah at the unplayable Vhengere Stadium.
