SIYAZAMA Primary School in Lochard, Insiza District, today held its Annual Prize Giving Day, showcasing the remarkable achievements of students while focusing on the critical theme: “Fighting GBV, Drugs and Substance Use through Provision of Safe Environment to Future Leaders.”
This year’s event is a celebration of resilience and hope, emphasising the importance of creating safe spaces for our children to thrive. The school proudly recognised the efforts of dedicated staff and the hard work of the students, who continue to shine even in challenging times.
Mr Douglas Sithole, Siyazama Primary School’s Headmaster, highlighted the significance of the theme. “We must work together to ensure our children grow up in an environment free from violence, drugs, and substance abuse. It is our duty to nurture them into responsible leaders of tomorrow,” he said.
The guest of honour was Dr Qhubani Moyo, who is CEO of KeYona TV. Dr Moyo co-founded Fairtalk Communications in 2014, which is the parent company of KeYona TV, along with other media outlets like Skyz Metro FM and Breeze FM.
He has been pivotal in promoting local content and empowering communities through media.
In his keynote address, Dr Moyo echoed the importance of community involvement in safeguarding the future of children. He donated money for 40 bags of cement to finish a classroom block under construction.
The event saw an impressive turnout of parents who were encouraged to participate actively in their children’s education and well-being. Through various channels, including the school’s WhatsApp group, families were reminded of the day’s importance, reflecting the school’s commitment to fostering a strong partnership with the community.
Dr Moyo took part in handing out prizes to those who excelled in various categories. The atmosphere was filled with pride and joy, celebrating not just academic achievements, but also the collective effort to fight societal challenges.
