REGISTRATION for the fifth edition of the Sports Leaders Institute of Zimbabwe Summer camp to be held at the end of the month in Nyanga has opened.

The three-day symposium will run from November 30 to December 2.

Russell Mhiribidi, the Sliz president said his organisation which prides itself as “game changers” in the country’s industry have come up with topics that will help local administrators keep up with the global sports management trends.

“The current Sports Leader should be able to fit anywhere, in line with existing global trends. Sport Leaders Institute of Zimbabwe is making it possible. At the upcoming Summer Camp, some of the workshop highlights include a plenary of cost effective sports infrastructure development and maintenance, sports as an organisation marketing tool. We will also deal with long-term athlete development which will enhance the plans to identify, groom and nurture podium athletes.

“We are cognisant of the global village we are in and that is why we will also have a presentation on digital era sports manager. It’s going to be an enlightening camp and fun for the participants, hence we call upon sports leaders, teachers, headmasters, sports directors, SDC (school development committee) representatives, coaches, clubs, sporting associations and tertiary institutions among others to register for the programme. Those interested can check our details on our Facebook page and get hold of us,” said Mhiribidi.

In the past, Sliz have delivered presentations on how to incorporate the scientific perspective and models most relevant to managing sport and physical activity organisations, as well as functions of sport management at their camps. The organisation which is recognised for playing an active role in sports industry development in Zimbabwe by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has also been on the forefront speaking against age cheating.

At almost all the programmes that they have held, Sliz has taken time to remind participants about waste of resources by promoting age cheating. — @ZililoR.
