Local gospel singer Sipho “Snowy” Ncube, has whetted the appetite of many music lovers in Bulawayo ahead of the Sizomkhonza Concert, which he has been promoting through teaser performances at various local churches.

The highly anticipated show will take place at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, Hall Three, this Sunday. Joining Snowy on stage will be Mzansi’s top gospel sensation Dumi Mkokstad, one of the lead singers for the renowned Spirit of Praise (SOP), as well as veteran gospel star, Minister Michael Mahendere.

In preparation for the event, Snowy has been spreading the word through performances at various churches, including Royal Priesthood Solution Ministries, Kingdom Empowerment Centre, and Harvest House, among others.

In an interview, he explained that the idea for this gig came after Mkokstad’s visit to Bulawayo with SOP last year, which left many fans craving more. He shared that Mkokstad did not finish his performance, leaving the audience wanting more. This prompted the decision to bring him back for a concert where he could take the time to fully engage in worship through his music.

“Dumi Mkokstad was part of the Spirit of Praise crew that performed in Bulawayo late last year, and his set left many people asking for more. His energy and stage presence were so powerful that we decided to organise this show, where he will headline and have ample time to perform for his fans,” Snowy said.

“Many Gospel lovers have been longing for such an event, and now that it’s here, they should come in full force to witness a night of praise and worship. Dumi will perform songs from his incredible catalogue, including iGetsemane, Mbize, and the latest hit Vumba Elimnandi.”

As the host, Snowy promised to deliver a stellar performance saying this will be a defining moment for his career.

“This is a huge show for me, and I expect it to add a solid reference to my profile as an artiste. I’ll treat it as a life-changing event and give my best performance,” Snowy said.

For some time, gospel fans have been eagerly requesting a collaboration between Mkokstad and Snowy. This desire was fuelled after Mkokstad made impressive remarks about Snowy’s performance at the Spirit of Praise concert in November last year at the newly constructed Harvest House Conference Centre.

Snowy acknowledged the interest but clarified that there have been no solid talks about a collaboration yet.

“Fans have been asking for a collaboration with Dumi, but we haven’t had serious discussions on that front. For now, our main focus is the upcoming concert, and everything is progressing smoothly.

“Besides, I believe that this concert itself is a collaboration enough for me. To associate with one of Africa’s gospel greats is a blessing in itself. The fact that this show is happening is a sign that anything is possible. Fans should stay hopeful,” Snowy said.
