POLICE in Plumtree have arrested a Bulilima man suspected to have fatally stabbed his girlfriend seven times with a kitchen knife before ripping open her stomach early this month.Members of the community ambushed Jabi Sibanda, 39, on Tuesday at his hiding place in Ndolwane area after he was heard telling his friends that he killed his girlfriend, Doubt Nleya, for refusing to have sex with him.

Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the arrest of Sibanda who was found in possession of two knives.

“I confirm that we arrested Jabi Sibanda in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Doubt Nleya, 33.  We managed to apprehend him with the assistance of members of the community.

“He is in police custody assisting us with investigations. He is set to appear in court soon,” said Insp Ndebele.
Sibanda allegedly stabbed his girlfriend seven times and ripped open her stomach with a knife after she dumped and chased him out of her house.

The incident happened in full view of employer’s two children aged four and nine years. Nleya reportedly dumped Sibanda after discovering that he had a criminal record of theft and attempted murder.
