A teacher at Kapane Secondary School in Tsholotsho allegedly raped a Form Four pupil after threatening to assault her.
James Tambeyi, 32, yesterday appeared before Bulawayo provincial magistrate Sibongile Msipa facing one count of rape.Prosecuting, Charles Danda told the court that on October 24, 2014 at around 1PM, Tambeyi visited the victim at her sister’s house and found her asleep.

He then woke her up before fondling her breasts and buttocks. Tambeyi then threatened to assault her if she screamed before raping her once, the court heard.

The complainant reported the rape to her sister who subsequently reported the assault to the police leading to Tambeyi’s arrest.

Tambeyi who was not asked to plead, was remanded in custody to December 2.
