Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Professor Tafadzwa Kandlela, popularly known as Proff The Maze. I was born on December 29, 1992 and learnt at Mgoqo Primary School and Lupane Primary. I did my O-level at Mabhikwa High School and then went to Bulawayo Polytechnic to further my studies. There, I pursued Electronic Computer Systems in Electrical Engineering.

Q. Please tell us more about the song, Eradication?
A. The song merely talks about drug abuse and Vuzu parties which have become a pandemic in the country. The song also shares the dangers of taking drugs
Q. How long have you been in the music industry?
A. Since 2017 and I’ve worked with different artistes such as King Aero, Yung, Alloe The Rapper, Ace Zella, King Encho, DJ Sycs, Grannies, Tbosie, Alexia and Linny Boy.
Q. Which music genre do you specialise in?
A. A lot including hip-hop, drill, dancehall, kwaito, Afro-Pop and amapiano. I have an EP and some single tracks titled Baby, Eradication and Fire Emoji Remix (Byo Version).
Q. Who inspires you?
A. Brian Neck, Volts JT, King Aero and Winky D.
Q. Do you think promoters are doing enough in promoting local talent?
A. Some promoters are playing a huge role in promoting local music but to a certain extent. Some take advantage by using local talent to promote their businesses.
Q. What do you think artistes from the city should do to be recognised?
A. Local artistes should focus on composing and producing quality music that is well-mixed and mastered. In order to gain recognition, we need to work on our culture and ethics.
