Dynamos have parted ways with their beleaguered coach Genesis Mangombe following a string of unconvincing performances which has seen the club now closer to the drop zone that title chasing back in the domestic league.

In a midnight statement, the CaF Confederations Cup bound side’s chairman Moses Maunganidze said Mangombe resigned and in his absence long serving Loyd Mablanyo Chigowe will take care of the dressing room.

“We wish to advise all our stakeholders that the club has gracefully accepted the resignation of Genesis Mangombe as head coach of Dynamos football club with immediate effect.

We want to thank Mr Mangombe for the services he rendered to the club and for all the achievements that the club attained during his tenure,” said Maunganidze.

Mangombe, who took over from Herbert Maruwa in what was largely seen as a technical coup, has struggled to steer the Harare giants’ ship despite winning the Chibuku Super Cup last season which gave them the ticket to represent the nation in the Caf Confederations Cup tournament where they will take on Zambian side ZESCO United in the  round preliminary stages of the tournament.

The Glamour boys have so far managed 30 points from 22 league matches and are 13 points behind leaders Simba Bhora yet nine points from Telone who are fourth from the bottom.

Mangombe’s resignation was announced following a lengthy leadership meeting that started at 4pm yesterday, ending at around 10pm where sources said it was agreed to treat Mangombe’s departure as resignation not sacking.
