Response to “Govt clears air on devolution . . . Roles of provincial councils, Ministers spelt out”. The concept of devolution is brilliant but it must come with clear mandates that do not overlap with central Government. We must be guided by the need to avoid bureaucratic red tape and instead achieve synchronisation and harmony in running national affairs. There is a need to clearly spell out roles of the various arms that the Local Government Minister envisages to constitute the provincial councils and to legislate as necessary to ensure compliance. We must therefore be careful that our call for ease of doing business is never compromised, if anything these councils must make it easy for people to do business. — Progressive Zimbabwean

Response to “Cholera: dirty pandemic, dirtier politics”. A fair and correct assessment of the problems which have culminated in the decay of the service delivery. With the new dispensation and problems known, it’s time for action. We do not want to be talking of the city council again, this is now a 100 percent problem for the new Minister. — Larry Mhuru.
