VETERAN football coach, Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu’s future at Ngezi Platinum Stars lies on newly appointed gaffer Takesure Chiragwi, after the club’s disciplinary committee cleared him on allegations of undermining authority.

In July, Zulu was suspended from his goalkeepers’ trainer role at Ngezi Platinum Stars, pending outcome of an investigation of undermining authority within the technical set-up.

There were allegations that Zulu undermined the Benjani Mwaruwari led technical team before the former Zimbabwe Warriors captain and one of his assistants Bongani Mafu were dismissed a week later following a string of poor results.

Zulu vehemently denied the allegations and after the club’s investigations as well as a disciplinary hearing, the veteran gaffer was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Responding to questions on how the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings, Ngezi Platinum Stars confirmed that the disciplinary hearing cleared Zulu, whose future now lies on Chiragwi.

“Following investigations instituted by the club, Cosmas Zulu was cleared of all allegations.  His future role in the club will now depend on the technical team plans of the newly appointed head coach Takesure Chiragwi,” read Ngezi Platinum Stars’ response.

Zulu, who joined Ngezi in 2017 and survived following the ouster of two coaches – Erol Akbay and Rodwell Dhlakama had been retained by Mwaruwari in March alongside Chiragwi as assistants.

The former Warriors captain had brought with him into Ngezi’s technical team Mafu, team manager Tinashe Nengomasha and Tonderai Vera as the performance analyst before he was shown the exit door in July.

Chiragwi was rewarded with the permanent Ngezi Platinum Stars head coach job after turning around their fortunes to end the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season in the top four.

Chiragwi, who has been given freedom to assemble his preferred technical team took charge of Ngezi Platinum Stars on an interim basis when the club fired Mwaruwari.

When Chiragwi took over, Ngezi Platinum Stars were on position nine with 30 points from 22 games. In his 12 games, Chiragwi managed to win seven matches, drew four and lost once as he amassed 25 points from a possible 36.

Ngezi Platinum Stars finished the season fourth with 55 points behind winners FC Platinum (75), Chicken Inn (63) and Dynamos (58).

Meanwhile, Zulu who is on holiday is happy that he has been exonerated. He declined to comment about his future.

“I was cleared before the season ended after the disciplinary procedures. I’m happy that my name was cleared because the allegations were damning on my person,” Zulu said. — @ZililoR
