OLIVER Mtukudzi might be in the twilight of his career given his age but if what he displayed during the Lake October Festival in Masvingo on Friday night is anything to go by then the godfather of local music will be around for sometime to come.

Tuku, who played alongside Winky D, was at his usual best churning out hit after hit at the festival held at Caravan Park.

Watching Tuku in action was a marvel as he gave a flawless display without unnecessarily switching to other musicians’ songs like other artistes. He proved to the swelling crowd that he was still worth his salt as he has not lost any of his skills which made him a household name in the music industry locally and within the region.

It was a clash of the titans as Winky D also gave a mouthwatering display which saw the young patrons, who were mostly students from Great Zimbabwe University and Masvingo Polytechnic, dancing the night away.

Despite the staggering $30 entrance fee for the VIP and $10 for ordinary fans, it was a full house and the two legends’ performances were worth the money.

However, the young patrons were more excited by Winky D who took to the stage in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Never one to disappoint, Winky D rocked the crowd and left them clamouring for more.

Those who missed Winky D in action or did not get enough of him on Friday were presented with yet another opportunity on Saturday when he performed at a family show at the Civic Centre courtesy of Kwese iFlix.

The two musical shows definitely brought life to the otherwise sleepy ancient city after a lengthy period of fun-blackout. — @walterbmswazie2
