TWO new classroom blocks have been commissioned at the Government-run Easterlea Primary School in Sanyati near Kadoma.
Before completion of the project, lessons were being conducted in makeshift classrooms, posing a danger to the lives of more than 300 learners.
However, a local company, Craft Properties Holdings, sourced resources for constructing two classroom blocks, ablution facilities and a solar-powered water system with a clear commitment to quality education.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Torerayi Moyo, who commissioned the two classroom blocks, commended the company’s push for progress and collaborative efforts of public and private entities towards a common goal.
“This ceremony exemplifies the power of collaborative efforts, such as this public-private partnership, in driving progress towards our national development objectives and the overarching vision for a prosperous Zimbabwe by 2030,” he said.
“Moreover, it’s imperative to echo the sentiments of our President, Dr Mnangagwa who has emphasised the significance of working hand in hand with private partners to enhance key sectors such as education.”
Minister Moyo said the Second Republic’s endorsement of such collaborations underscores the Government’s recognition of the invaluable contributions private entities bring to the table in advancing national development agendas.
He said the gesture by the company was not just constructing physical structures, but signified building the foundation for a brighter future of the children.
“By investing in educational facilities, we are not only enhancing the learning environment but also laying the groundwork for a more educated and skilled workforce, essential for realising the ambitious goals outlined in Vision 2030.
“Furthermore, this event echoes the resounding call by our President Dr ED Mnangagwa for a renewed focus on education in Zimbabwe. Education stands at the core of our nation’s development and these contributions exemplify the President’s unwavering dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment for our youth.”
He said the efforts by Craft Properties Holdings were worth emulating and urged other companies to harness the power of collaboration and innovation to propel the education sector to greater heights.
“Through their generous contribution of two classroom blocks, an ablution facility and a borehole, Craft Properties has not only improved educational infrastructure but also demonstrated a tangible commitment to the development and betterment of our nation,” said the minister.
“This act of philanthropy embodies the belief that progress is achieved through the collaborative efforts of both public and private entities working hand in hand towards a common goal.
“By aligning their actions with this national ethos, Craft Properties has set a shining example of how individual contributions can significantly impact the collective advancement and prosperity.”
Minister Moyo encouraged the community to work together in caring for the donated classrooms, consider maintenance schedules and cleanliness protocols and engage the students in the preservation of the new facilities.
The company is now working towards constructing a secondary school after discovering that the nearest secondary school is about 17 kilometres away.
