UNITED Kingdom-based disc jockey, Doubt Chimonyo, better known as DJ Dehwa, has held a meeting with Bulawayo artistes to discuss their marginalisation.

Over the years there has always been a notion that the arts industry is centralised in Harare and it’s never been open to people from other cities.

DJ Dehwa is also part of non-profit organisation, Zim Talent Hunt, a platform to showcase talent and networking for artistes.

“I urge all the Bulawayo artistes to work together and support each other and also networking with key people in the industry is very critical,” said DJ Dehwa.

Many city artistes came to the meeting held at Red Cafe on Monday including Madlela Skhobokhobo, Mzoe7 and Asaph.

The DJ also brought online comedy sensation Mai Titi who advised up-and-coming artistes in Bulawayo to utilise social media and grow their fan base online.

“This meet-up is a good start for up and coming artistes in Bulawayo to come together, the industry is loaded and they need to push very hard,” said Mai Titi.

Mzoe 7 spoke on the importance of artistes linking up.

“It’s always great when artistes meet up and this should be done regularly,” he said.

After the meeting, Mai Titi did a short skit with one of the artistes where she accuses her of having an affair with her husband and the video has reached 40 000 views on Facebook.
