UNIVERSITY students from various institutions across the country have joined forces to produce a drama series titled Love and Blood.

The series, that will be premiered on YouTube in December, seeks to tackle real life snags which include pain, heartbreak, betrayal, money and loyalty.

Students from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ); National University of Science and Technology (NUST); Midlands State University (MSU); Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE); Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) and

Kwekwe Polytechnic are part of the cast.

One of the directors of the production, Pride Mutarangani said they released the trailer last week on their YouTube channel.

“The drama is inspired by stories which are all too common in our lives including heartbreak, pain, betrayal, loyalty and money. The title itself is allegory. When you draw a circle you start from point A and go down and around until u return to point A where u started.

“Such is life. One’s decision made today whether good or bad will trigger consequences and that’s the start of the circle until it closes back to where it started. Love and blood are what bind most relationships, the love is not just romantic, we explore love for money, love for power and love for fame amongst other,” said Mutarangani.

He said the drama is a reflection of reality so the audience will easily relate.

“We have students from UZ, Hit, Buse, MSU, Nust and Kwekwe Poly among our cast and crew. The drama is intended to entertain everyone as we’re telling stories which all audiences can connect with. However, we do have some mature themes which may need parental discretion.

“The executive producers are Laura Chijumana, Tafadzwa Kanhema and myself. This is our first feature presentation in drama but we have produced a reality talk show called Sebenza Girl that aired on YouTube,” he said.

Mutarangani said the audience may, for now, keep themselves entertained by watching the trailer as they await the official launch of the series. — @SeehYvonne
