Social media sensation, Maskandi musician, Clopas Sikhosana who became an Internet sensation last year after a video of him performing a song on the Covid-19 pandemic trended, is now working on his second album due for release next month.
Titled Ntethe, the album is a follow-up to his debut, Isomiso that was recorded in Bulawayo with the help of well-wishers following the viral video. The album was released last year and it was clearly a hit among many as it saw the artiste clinch his first Bulawayo Arts Award in the Outstanding Newcomer category.
Sikhosana who hails from Nkayi became a hit because of his humbleness and witty lyrics. Inseparable with his guitar, the artiste wants to show people that he is not a one-hit-wonder with his second album.
Speaking from his rural home, Sikhosana of the Ngizokulimaza ngebeat catchphrase said the pandemic stalled his plans as he could not travel to Bulawayo to record the second album due to travel restrictions.
“The lockdown and ban of intercity travel have stalled the smooth flow of my plans to record my second album. If the restrictions continue,
I’ll have to improvise because the album is surely coming.
“It’ll have six tracks and will be recorded under Shilolo Media House, the record label that I’m signed under and belongs to Madlela Skhobokhobo,” said Sikhosana.
He said the album will take people on a journey of the rural folk with the focus being mostly on their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic era.
“Through the album, I intend to raise the bar higher and go bigger, not only in Zimbabwe but regionally and internationally. I’m planning to collaborate with one or two artistes who’ll be unveiled closer to the release date,” said Sikhosana. [email protected]_mthire
