Rhumba music powerhouse Insimbi ZeZhwane made a grand statement on Saturday evening with the launch of their eagerly awaited album, “Imbobo Zamajuba” at the Palace Hotel gardens.
The event marked a triumphant return to the stage for the group, who debuted the album to a sold-out crowd in South Africa before bringing the celebrations home to Bulawayo.
The South African premiere set the tone, with fans filling the venue and expressing a desire for a larger space next time. However, it was the homecoming launch in Bulawayo that saw an even larger gathering, with the crowd’s enthusiasm matching the group’s high-energy performance.
Known for their thoughtful lyrics and captivating stage presence, Insimbi ZeZhwane did not disappoint, delivering an electrifying show that solidified their status as leaders in the rhumba genre.
By 5pm, fans had already begun filling the venue, eager to experience the band’s first full album release since the passing of their founder and core member, Ma Eli. By 9pm, the Palace Hotel Gardens was packed, with the stage warmed up by acts including Mocks Kwasa Stars, Godolude and Eze Energy, who delivered strong performances that set the mood for the main event.
Special guest artiste Zinjaziyamluma, who was there to support his fellow musicians, introduced the man of the hour, Brema, and Insimbi ZeZhwane crew to an enthusiastic audience.
The group’s dynamic choreography and powerful instrumentals brought the night to life, and the hit track “GPS” was so popular that it played multiple times to the crowd’s delight.
The group also debuted new tracks, including “Imbeleko”, “Ingqinamba”, “Umfukula”, “Morning Glory”, “Imbobo Zamajuba”, “Umathambula” and “Mileage”. The crowd’s cheers confirmed these songs as likely hits that will be played at upcoming parties, weddings, and celebrations across Matabeleland.
With both Insimbi ZeZhwane and Mxolisi “Mr Bones” launching albums as the festive season nears, it remains to be seen which artiste will dominate the season’s gatherings and celebrations.
