A DELEGATION from countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, who are attending the Industrialisation Week in Harare, has toured the Dinson Iron and Steel Company in Manhize, Zimbabwe.

The Dinson Iron and Steel Company is set for a massive expansion, with plans to produce 600 000 tonnes of steel in the first phase. This output is expected to rise to 1.2 million tonnes in the second phase, followed by 3.2 million tonnes in the third phase, and ultimately reach 5 million tonnes annually in the final phase.

The steel plant will supply a wide range of products to the Zimbabwean industry, and the project is expected to create direct employment for up to 10 000 people.

The Sadc delegation’s visit to the Dinson Iron and Steel plant comes as part of their participation in the Industrialisation Week in Harare, a showcase of the region’s industrial capabilities and investment opportunities.

The tour provided the visiting officials with an up-close look at the scale and potential of the Dinson project, which is poised to become a major driver of economic growth and industrial development in Zimbabwe.
