TONIGHT it will be glitz and glamour at the 2024 Soccer Stars of the Year banquet to be held in Harare where a new King of Zimbabwean football will be crowned to succeed Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Qadr Amini.

The function will be held at a Harare hotel and in attendance will be journalists, Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs’ leadership, coaches, captains and invited yesteryear greats among others.

The trio of Walter Musona(Simba Bhora), Lynoth Chikuhwa(Highlanders) and Khama Billiat (Yadah Stars) are heavily tipped to shine at the podium.

Last year, the 11 soccer stars as voted for by the selection panel included Amini, Takunda Benhura, Nelson Chadya (all Ngezi Platinum Stars), Donald Mudadi, Tanaka Shandirwa (Dynamos), Andrew Mbeba, Ariel Sibanda (Highlanders), Tino Benza (Herentals), Fortune Binzi (Manica Diamonds) and Michael Charamba (Chicken Inn).

Simba Bhora mentor Tonderai Ndiraya is the favourite to win the Coach of the Year gong that was won by Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Takesure Chiragwi in the previous season.

The Goalkeeper of the Year as well as the Most Promising Player accolades are most likely to go to Chicken Inn goalminder Donovan Bernard and Kingsley Mureremba of CAPS United respectively.

Chikuhwa has already bagged the Golden Boot Award after he found the back of the net an impressive 17 times for Bosso.
