Wire car maker eyes tourism conference

The conference will be co-hosted with Zambia and will attract about 3 000 delegates from 180 countries, which will help promote the country as a prime tourist destination.

The two-metre long yellow and red wire car can carry a maximum of 20kg and has been turning heads in the city.

The eight-door wire car, being sold for $300, has a map of Zimbabwe that Moyo says would help market the country.

Moyo, who is also a musician, said his next project would be to make an actual car.

“My next project, if I get the right material, would be to make a car using motors. This wire car is just to advertise my knowledge and I pray that I get the required recognition,” he said.

“I want to exhibit next year in Victoria Falls at the World Tourism Forum.”
Moyo said the piece of art could take him 10 days to complete if he has the right material.

“Although I spent two months to complete this car, it can take 10 days to make the car if I have the right material. Zimbabwe has immense talent especially in art. All that is needed is marketing of the art,” he said.

Turning to his musical career, Moyo said he had released a 10-track album titled Success.

He, however, complained that because of piracy he was forced to sell his CDs at $1 per copy.

“The situation is bad. I cannot get significant revenue from the CDs because I have to sell them for $1.

I have been forced to do that because of music pirates. I cannot realise profit from my music,” said Moyo.

He said Success was his first album to be marketed but was actually his third production.
Moyo said art was in his blood and promised to pursue his calling.
