Woman ‘assaults’ patron at nightclub

A 34-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo woman allegedly beat up a patron at a nightclub for taking long in the toilet when she wanted to use it.

Ruth Njagu of Nkulumane suburb allegedly hit Ms Patricia Moyo (47) with an empty beer bottle and punched her several times at Club 263 located at Corner 11th Avenue and George Silundika Street.

Ms Moyo suffered a cut on her forehead and a swollen face. 

Njagu was not asked to plead when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Ulukile Muleya.

The magistrate remanded her on $50 bail to September 17. 

Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza said on September 7 at around 5 AM, Ms Moyo was in one of the toilets when Njagu approached her demanding to use the toilet.

“The complainant told the accused person that she was still dressing,” he said.

Njagu allegedly forcibly opened the door and hit Ms Moyo with an empty beer bottle on the forehead. “The accused person pulled the complainant out of the toilet and punched her several times in the                                                                                                                               face causing her to bleed profusely,” said the prosecutor.

Njagu was arrested by a security guard at the club who handed her over to the police.
