A WOMAN from Mazwi Village in Bulawayo has appeared in court facing an aggravated indecent assault charge for inserting her finger and a stick into the private parts of her two stepchildren.

The woman (20) is unemployed and abused the two sisters aged seven and 10.

The two children alternate between living with their grandmother and their father and stepmother.

The incidents occurred on two separate occasions when the girls had been left in the care of their stepmother.

The matter was postponed to October 24 by Bulawayo Regional magistrate Ms Sibonginkosi Mnkandla for the accused person to be served summons.

Prosecuting, Mr Simbarashe Manyiwa said the first incident occurred sometime last year.

“Sometime last year in the afternoon, complainant (10) was playing outside her father’s home. The stepmother called complainant into the house, pushed her onto the bed, covered her with a blanket and undressed her,” said Mr Manyiwa.

“Accused person inserted her fingers into complainant’s genitals without her consent.”

The prosecutor said on August 21 this year at around 9:30AM, the complainant aged seven years old was left by her grandmother in the care of her stepmother.

The court heard that the stepmother allegedly assaulted her and went on to undress her.

She inserted a stick into her privates until she started bleeding.

“Accused person assaulted the complainant and took her to her bedroom, undressed her, inserted a stick into her genitals and washed the complainant’s genitals with salty water,” said Mr Manyiwa.

The court heard that the girl reported the matter to her father when he arrived home on the same day in the evening.

The father proceeded to the grandmother’s home and told her about the incident.

The matter was reported to the police and it was established that the other sibling had also been abused. — @gwizi_n
