A Victoria Falls woman who allegedy stabbed her live-in boyfriend with a pair of scissors on the chest yesterday appeared in court facing charges of physical abuse. Patrick Moyo, 29, of Chinotimba Suburb, employed as a waiter at Wild Horizons was briefly admitted at Victoria Falls District Hospital on Tuesday after sustaining stab wounds on the chest just below his left breast and on the arm.

His 28-year-old girlfriend, Carol Ncube, pleaded not guilty to physical abuse when she appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Sharon Rosemani.

Ncube claimed she acted in self-defence as Moyo was the first to assault her.

“I stabbed him in retaliation as he was assaulting me. He went for dinner with some friends from South Africa and did not come back home.

“I decided to look for him at Shoestrings Lodge with my brother-in-law. I don’t know who told him that I had left in a taxi. He followed me and started beating me,” said Ncube.

The magistrate remanded her out of custody to April 8 on $100 bail.

Ncube was also ordered not to interfere with her boyfriend until the case was concluded.

Moyo said it was not true that he first assaulted Ncube.
