Master KG and Winky D

IMAGINE a Winky D and Master KG collaboration. This can be possible if the latter’s reply to Winky D’s album launch tweet is anything to go by.

Just like any other December in the past, South African acts are flocking to the country to entertain local revellers and the latest pack was DJ Tira, Master KG, Dladla Mshunqisi, Amaroto and their dancers.

They came and owned the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) for the Harris Continental Music (HCM) Festival.

Complementing the list of performers were local acts inclusive of Jah Signal, Fab G, Mzoe 7, DJ Liz, DJ Nospa, DJ Mzoe, DJ Yona and Mufali but it was Winky D who stole the show earning Master KG’s affection in the process.

Master KG has conjured up a sort of bromance with local artistes as he, during his set, performed his collaboration song with Nox, “Melody” and gave a shout-out to Nox, propping him up. He was later seen dancing and recording Winky D’s set on his phone, a sign that he appreciated the Gafa’s polished set.

Master KG’s endearment to Zimbabwean talent reached fever-pitch when he responded to a Tweep’s Tweet on Tuesday.
A Tweep only known as Inkisela yaseNkulumane wrote, “What Winky D did in Bulawayo last night is beyond words! A true GOAT, the city is grateful.” In response to that, Master KG then wrote, “GOAT” escorting the tweet with a picture of a goat and four flame emojis.

Not only did the Jerusalema hit-maker allude to Winky D as a GOAT, an acronym for ‘Greatest Of All Time’, but he also responded to Winky D’s tweet on his upcoming album set for New Year’s Eve and showered Winky D with royal praise.

He hinted at attending the launch when he said, “After what I saw on Sunday when I have time, I would attend all your shows!! You are a king brother!!!”

Master KG made his Bulawayo bow earlier this year when he was a surprise guest with Zanda Zakuza at Barbourfields Stadium for the Independence Gala in April. Since then, he has been showing interest in Zimbabwean artistes.

It is not surprising as he has a cult following in the country with his hit song Jerusalema having compelled Zimbos to join in on the #JerusalemaChallenge on TikTok.

It is only a matter of time before people find out whether Master KG will “find time” and attend Winky D’s yet-to-be-named album launch. – @eMKlass_49
