THE Zanu-PF Lupane East constituency campaign juggernaut roles into Ndimimbili village today with secretary general Cde Obert Mpofu set to grace the occasion to drum up support for the party’s candidate Cde Phathisiwe Ncube.
Cde Ncube will represent the revolutionary party in the December 9 by elections where she will face two Citizens Coalition Candidates, Mr Bright Vanya Moyo and Mr David Nyathi who both had their papers accepted by the nomination court early last month.
In an interview, Zanu-PF district coordinating committee chairperson for Lupane, Cde Permanent Sibanda said they don’t want to repeat the mistake of August 23 where some party members decided not to cast their votes on the basis that they had already won.
“This area is our stronghold but we are not relaxing, we want to drum up and rally our members to go out in droves to vote for our candidate, infact we want to double the figures we got last time around. Party secretary general ubaba uObert Mpofu will grace the occasion as the main speaker,” said Cde Mpofu.
This is the fourth campaign rally in the constituency in two weeks, a clear intention that the party is determined to win the seat which it had narrowly lost in the August 23 elections when Mr Vanya Moyo managed 6 476 votes to Cde Ncube’s 6 241.
The by-election is one of two in the province, with the other being in Binga North where Cde Chineka Muchimba will stand on a Zanu-PF ticket against CCC’s two candidates, Mr Prince Dubeko Sibanda and Ms Judith Sibanda.
