The Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial leadership has announced a series of inter-district meetings aimed at educating party members about the accomplishments of the Second Republic under the stewardship of President Mnangagwa.
The meetings, scheduled from August 3 to September 14, will focus on the party district co-ordination committee (DCC) members and the leadership of all party wings in each district.
Speaking at a recent Zanu-PF Matabeleland South inter-district meeting in Gwanda, provincial party chairman, Cde Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu emphasised the importance of President Mnangagwa’s continued leadership in achieving Vision 2030.
Cde Ndlovu highlighted that these meetings will also serve as a platform to address challenges faced by each district in the province.
“We will be moving around districts in the province where we will be interacting with party leadership and members on the works which have been done by our President Mnangagwa. We want to thank him for the work he has done and we would like to see him continue in power,” he said.
Cde Ndlovu further praised President Mnangagwa’s efforts in the wake of the El Nino-induced drought, assuring that no one will die of hunger under his leadership.
“This should be the song that we will sing as a province. Our President is the best, he has delivered and continues to deliver. We are experiencing the worst drought ever since we got independence, but our President has stood and said no one will die of hunger,” he said.
The meetings will also provide an opportunity for the provincial leadership to gather first-hand information on local problems to address them effectively.
“As the leadership, we would want to have first-hand information of the problems which our people are facing so that they can be addressed,” Cde Ndlovu noted.
Cde Ndlovu said the people-centred leadership approach being followed by the party’s provincial leadership is in line with the expectations of the Zanu-PF-led Government.
He said some former members who had defected, now wish to return to the party, having witnessed the development efforts by Zanu-PF. He stressed the need to welcome these individuals and integrate them into the party structures at the grassroots level.
Cde Ndlovu said some have seen the great development works being done by Zanu-PF while others need to be led to the light.
“We are leaving no stone unturned as we will be engaging people so that they join Zanu-PF. There are people out there who are part of the opposition, but they want to come back home,” he said.
“People have seen that the opposition isn’t doing anything to help the people. These people want to come back home as they are now homeless, let’s not shun them. When they come back, we have to groom them and incorporate them within the party structures at grassroots level.”
Cde Ndlovu also urged constituencies and wards to hold victory celebrations for last year’s elections to relish the hard work, which was done to mobilise votes for the ruling party. —@DubeMatutu
