THE Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) has been plugged into mourning following the death of administrator Munyaradzi Mugabe who died in a car accident.
Mugabe was the chairperson of Gweru Sports Club rugby section and organising secretary for Midlands Rugby Football Board. He also was a coach for the Midlands Christian College Under-14 rugby team.
In a statement, ZRU described the late Mugabe as a gentle giant.
“He had a keen interest in the development of rugby from the grassroots. He recently was responsible for the revival of rugby at Gweru Sports Club and the province through hosting several developmental tournaments.
“His contribution to the development of rugby in Gweru and Midlands Province was immense as he was astute and administrator, gentle, firm but fair, down to earth, unassuming and friendly family man off the field of play. We join his family and the rugby community in remembering a gentle giant.”
