THE Zimbabwe Under-19 women’s cricket team is in India for a training camp that they will use as part of their preparations for next year’s inaugural International Cricket Council Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.

A squad of 19 players was named for the tour to the Asian country and they left the country on Sunday.

Apart from being a training camp, the tour to India will also include seven T20 matches before they head back to Zimbabwe.

The tour is scheduled to last until 20 December, a month before the commencement of the global showpiece.

The Young Lady Chevrons played against South Africa a few months back as part of their preparatory series.

Under the stewardship of Trevor Phiri, who will be the first coach to take Zimbabwe Under-19 women’s national team to a World Cup, the Zimbabwean team boasts of the services of Lady Chevrons all-rounder, Kelis Ndhlovu and pace bowler Michelle Mavunga.

Ndhlovu finished as the hugest leading wicket taker in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will be crucial in the team’s preparations.
