Zimpapers Annual Cancer Powerwalk Route released The route for this year’s Zimpapers Cancer Powerwalk

ALL roads tomorrow lead to Chronicle House in Bulawayo for the 7th edition of the annual Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk which will also take place in Harare, Gweru, Kariba, Mutare and Masvingo.

The campaign begins at 5.30am and participants pay $10 or ZWL6 500 registration fee upon which they will receive a branded t-shirt.

OK Mart

The walk will start at Chronicle House at 6am. There will be a marked route from Chronicle House into 9th Avenue from which participants will go down 9th Avenue and then turn left into Samuel Parirenyatwa Road. From there they will take a right turn into Leopold Takawira Avenue and go straight before turning right into Ascot Road. The route follows a right turn into 12th Avenue going straight up to George Silundika Street and back to the finishing line at Chronicle House.

In Harare, participants who will take part in the 5km walk will follow the route through Bishop Gaul Avenue, Princes Road before turning left into Prince Edward.

From Prince Edward, participants will turn left into Lawson Avenue and walk straight back to Bishop Gaul into Old Hararians Sports Club.

Those taking part in the 10km run will start from Old Hararians into Bishop Gaul Avenue before turning left into Princes Road from which they will run straight down to Josiah Tongogara. From there they will turn left into Second Street before taking another left turn into Cork Road.

They will then come down to Prince Edward Road from which they will turn right into Drummond Chaplin Street before connecting back to Bishop Gaul into Old Hararians to complete the run.

In Gweru, the walk starts OK Mart with participants taking a right turn into Mvuma Road before turning into Josiah Chinamano. Participants then turn left into Bradley Road straight into Health Row before a left turn into Acacia Rd. Another left turn takes participants into Windsor Rd which leads to the first round about which leads to CPH round about. The route stretches straight down into a right turn leading to the Showgrounds roundabout where a right leads back to the finishing line at OK Mart. 

In Kariba both the 5km walk and 10km run kick start at Nyamhunga Primary at 6:30am.

Those walking will go straight through Harare Rd, Batonga turn off and back to Nyamhunga Primary school. The 10km runners will proceed to Cutty Sark turn off and back to Nyamhunga Primary school.

The walk is starting at Mutare Motoring Club in Mutare with marked routes clearly leading to 11th Avenue. A left turn leads into Herbert Chitepo before another left turn takes participants back to the Motoring Club to complete the run.
