ZimTrade to coach firms on accessing free market intelligence

Chronicle Reporter
ZIMTRADE is ready to participate at the 56th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair which began in Bulawayo yesterday.
ZimTrade’s participation theme at the international trade showcase is “Energising Zimbabwe’s Export Growth”.Given the national trade performance, which is characterised by an unsustainable trade deficit at $ 3.3 billion as at December 31, 2014, the need to promote export-led growth cannot be over emphasised.

ZimTrade will focus on coaching companies on how to access market intelligence through its modernised Trade Information Centre.

The transformation of the Trade Information Centre has placed ZimTrade in a position to enhance service delivery as well as provide competitive intelligence to clients, particularly existing and potential exporters, free of charge.

On-line market access information is now easily retrievable and available to exporters.

Clients can now fully utilise market access tools such as Trade Map, Market Access Map and Standards Map to facilitate informed management decisions.

Companies are urged to visit the ZimTrade stand, which is located in Hall 4 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, to familiarise themselves with the tools.

ZimTrade will also utilise the ongoing expo to disseminate information on its product and service portfolios. This includes information on the reviewed and rebranded Marketing and Branding for International Competitiveness (MBIC) Training programme, formerly known as the Export Marketing Training Programme (EMTP).

ZimTrade will facilitate the participation of six small to medium enterprises at the ZITF.

These companies were drawn from the clothing, footwear, arts and crafts as well as engineering sectors.

The objective of facilitating SMEs is to develop and nurture them into viable export entities.
