Ziyathunqa drama series calls for actors and actresses Khaliphile ‘Khally’ Sibanda

A NEW thought-provoking drama series, Ziyathunqa, is calling on actors and actresses to audition online for the upcoming drama.

The series, a production of Geraldine Roche Drama (GRD), chronicles Bulawayo’s daily life and everything that happens in its periphery. It is set to be shot next month and will include languages Kalanga, Sotho, Shona, English and Ndebele.

The production which will have 13 episodes is eyeing to get eight characters for the roles of Sithandazile Malaba a 35 to 40-year-old Kalanga/Sotho speaking subservient woman brought up in traditional African culture, Ndodana a 14 to 15-year-old Form 3 boy at a middle class secondary school, Lubelihle an 18 to19-year-old Kalanga/Sotho speaking rural girl and Jetro Msimanga a 40 to 45-year-old man who is a dreamer who loves making quick cash and keeping appearances.

Other characters are Milidzani Nleya, a 60 to 65-year-old Kalanga/Sotho speaking rural old man, Vimbai Shoko a 30 to 35-year-old good looking and prosperous sphatheleni, Shamiso a 14 to 15-year-old spoilt girl who learns at a private school and Desmond Msimanga, a 35 to 40-year-old ex-convict but, good hearted person.

The series’ project manager Khaliphile Sibanda said interested artistes should send a one-minute monologue, photo and contact details to [email protected].

Sibanda reiterated that the applicants should wear a costume for the chosen characters they will be auditioning for adding that language for characters is very important in the monologue.
